Children, young people and adults from the community volunteered to clean up and create signage for 81,500m2 of urban wetlands between the shore and the last row of houses in the city of Pisco to create a recreational and eco-touristic area from August 2009 to March 2010. Paths, observation points and areas for arts and cultural activities in the park help provide an opportunity to learn about the wetlands and contribute to the conservation of flora and fauna.
The project and its everyday use by neighbors demonstrates the wetlands' potential as a site to develop eco-tourismo and a public space for local recreation.
Co-organized with Ecología Playina and the support of volunteers from the cultural association "Asi Es Mi Tierra", Pisco Sin Fronteras, Pisco Playa neighbors and the gracious support of the Alexander Von Humboldt School.
