URBAN CONNECTIONS COURSE, SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN, PUCP

The "Urban Connections" course at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) created an opportunity for coastal Pisco's neighborhood organizations to receive technical assistance from students in their last semesters at the PUCP and for these students an experiential and interdisciplinary learning experience.

20 students from five different degree programs and four different countries formed three teams that worked with three coastal Pisco neighborhood organizations. Each organization fostered a neighborhood project: improvements to an open-air athletic court, converting a former entrance to the ocean (now to the wetlands) into a park and recovering the former September 8th Park in the Pisco Playa Norte neighborhood. The course's support as well as the neighbors' and organization's hard work contributed directly to the recovery of the September 8th Park.
